"Water Management in the Southern Willamette Valley" presented by Lanaya Blakely, will be the focus of the March Science Pub. Ms. Blakely has served as the Oregon Water Resources Department (OWRD) District 2 Watermaster since July 2017, filling the shoes of Michael Mattick, who retired after 18 years in the position. The presentation will cover Oregon Water Law and how the State manages water use in the Southern Willamette Valley and the Mid-Coast, including information about irrigation, wells, ponds, exempt uses, instream water rights, regulation, and enforcement.
The CFWWC hosts a family-friendly monthly public meeting series called the Coast Fork Science Pub on the fourth Tuesday of each month from 5-7pm at the Axe & Fiddle, 657 E. Main Street in Cottage Grove. The event begins with informal socializing, trivia, and updates about the watershed and watershed council during the first hour. The Science Pub presentation begins at 6pm. CFWWC receives 10% of all sales from the evening between 5-7:30pm. The event is free to the public, with a $5 donation suggested. For further information, visit Coast Fork Willamette Watershed Council on Facebook or www.coastfork.org.
Welcome to Cottage Grove from all of us here at the Cottage Grove Area Chamber of Commerce.
Whether visiting Cottage Grove, or a lifetime resident, it is obvious this town and its surroundings are very special. With two rivers, two lakes, waterfalls, and nature trails...outdoor activities abound. Our historic downtown, museums, and covered bridges offer historical activities and shopping. But it's the people who make Cottage Grove a truly magical place. So, again, welcome.
