Description
For July's History Pub, historian Steve Williamson from Singing Creek Education Center, will delve into Cottage Grove's "other Bohemia", Bohemia Sharp. Not to be confused with Bohemia Johnson, who gave the name to the Mining District, Sharp got his name from that district having built a road up to it and worked there as an assayer. Ever wonder how Sharps Creek got its name? James "Bohemia" Sharp was one of the most colorful early pioneers of Bohemia gold mining. He built the road up to the mines - but never got paid for it. Impoverished, he was sent to the Poor Farm. Bohemia Sharp died in Oregon State Mental Hospital in 1917. But, then his body disappears. Historian Steve WIlliamson will try to solve the mystery of Where is the Body of Bohemia Sharp! As usual History Pub will feature Trivia, 50/50 raffle, Fun, fellowship, and an informative talk all with the ambiance of the Axe and Fiddle. History Pubs are sponsored and presented by Cottage Grove Partners in History
