Description
Free Wildflower Tours will be offered at two sites along the Row River Trail The public is invited to the second annual Bikes to Blooms Wildflower Tour Saturday May 9th 9am-2pm at two locations along the Row River Trail?Bake Stewart Park and Row Point. Along this 17-mile paved path recently designated the Covered Bridges Scenic Bikeway are a series of rare, remnant prairie habitats. Local plant experts will interpret these sites for the public at this free event sponsored by the Bikes to Blooms partnership that is comprised of the following organizations: the Coast Fork Willamette Watershed Council, Army Corps of Engineers, the Native Plant Society of Oregon, City of Cottage Grove, Bureau of Land Management, Cottage Grove Chamber of Commerce, Kennedy Alternative High School, and the Bike Safety Coalition. Visitors are also welcome to visit the booths of partner organizations and local groups at Bake Stewart Park during the event. Seven free wildflower tours for all knowledge levels will be available at our 2015 event, each an opportunity to learn about the wildflowers that bloom each spring and the habitats and parks where they reside. All tours are accessible by car, but bike riding is encouraged as parking is limited. Participants should bring a picnic lunch, water, cash for refreshments by donation, weather-appropriate clothing, weed-free shoes, and a helmet if cycling. Please no dogs.
