Description
City Utilities - A Source of Constant Complaints City Councilor and local history buff, Dana Merryday, will be tracing the development of our city's water, sewer, and stormwater systems from the 1800's till present day. Hear about polluted wells, Typhoid fever, the water wars leading to the Lemati Feud, Bonds, and changing state and Federal laws. Also learn about winning the “All America City” award in 1968 for our innovative wastewater facility along with a constant struggle to provide basic water and sanitary services accompanied by a chorus of citizen complaints about having to foot the bill. Trivia, 50/50 Raffle, food, drink, and fellowship. Sponsored by Cottage Grove Genealogical Society and Downtown Cottage Grove
