Description
This is an Oregon story. This traveling exhibit explains how Oregonians participated in the decision to incarcerate Japanese Americans and Japanese immigrants during World War II... it is the story of how individuals, organizations, businesses and elected officials advocated for the incarceration of Oregonians of Japanese ancestry or stood by while it happened.... Special Events March 13, 6pm: Lawson Inada, a jazz musician, professor and Poet Laureate of Oregon who was interned March 19, 6pm: Join us with Jesus Narvaez, a Dreamer, and Mansoor Shams, "Muslim Marine" for a live chat March 29, 6pm: "Never Give Up! Minoru Yasui and the Fight for Justice" documentary film followed by a special guest appearance and live chat with the film's director, Holly Yasui Join the conversation as we compare historic events to contemporary examples of people in our country being profiled and targeted based on their ancestry, nationality, religion, color orientation...
