The first "Swinging Bridge" was built in 1917 (construction supervised by J.P. Currin himself) at the current location. This was in response to repeated closures and repairs on the original structure located downstream. Learn the whys and wherefores as you sit back, enjoy a drink and some grub, digesting some local history. The March edition of the monthly "History Pub" will feature the Currin family, who were early settlers in Cottage Grove, and in particular J.P. Currin who built the first two out of 5 Swinging Bridges, the most recent of which bears his name. Local history buff, Dana Merryday, will have lots to say on the bridges, the Currins, and the development of our fair City! Mark your calendar and bring a friend or two.
