SUMMARY:Classical Music in the Wild
DESCRIPTION:IN A LANDSCAPE: Classical Music in the Wild is an outdoor concert series in stunning landscapes of the Pacific Northwest. We bring a 9-foot Steinway grand piano to the middle of forests\, fields\, calderas and historical sites for classical music concerts.\n\n \n\nTo meet the acoustical challenges of performing in the wild\, music is transmitted to the concert-goers via wireless headphones. No longer confined to seats\, they can explore the landscape\, wander through secret glens\, lie in sunny meadows\, and roam old growth forests.\n\n \n\nIn the spirit of the Works Progress Administration's (WPA) Federal Music and Theatre Projects\, which presented thousands of free concerts and plays in theaters\, public spaces and parks across the country during the Depression\, IN A LANDSCAPE events are offered primarily in rural communities for free or on a donation basis. \n\n \n\nTICKETS: Visit inalandscape.org or call (503) 308-2921. Free tickets are avaialbe at select concerts for EBT card holders\, locals\, and guests 25 and under\n\n \n\nAbout Hunter:\n\nBorn in Oregon in 1988\, IN A LANDSCAPE'S founder and artistic director Hunter Noack grew up hunting\, fishing\, and kayaking the Deschutes River in Central Oregon. At age 14 he left for Interlochen Arts Academy\, a boarding school in northern Michigan\, to pursue piano performance. He holds degrees from Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London\, the University of Southern California\, and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. He has won numerous awards including the Los Angeles International Liszt Competition\, the CoLABorate Award (London)\, premiered works for the BBC\, and traveled internationally with Pink Martini. Hunter currently lives in Portland and is the first Artist-in-Residence at All Classical Portland\, the Northwest's only classical music radio station.
